I use scissors for cutting my fabric and tend not to use patterns so I end up chopping the fabric to get both pieces to the same size! I read on a blog that someone used to do that and then they got a cutting board and a rotary cutter. Does anyone else use them or are you all scissors girls and boys?
Any advice would be welcome!

I don't really haver the space to have a cutting board that's the problem. I might stick to scissors at the mo!

Cutting boards come in varying sizes. it would depend on how large a design you wanted to cut. they are best suited to straight lines or long curves. If the cutting is intrecate stick to your scissors.

Thanks Goldy. I was only asking because I'd seen it on someones blog and they were saying how much time it saves them - and time is something that I am short of!
I use scissors.
I do have a rotary cutter, but I only use that for cutting my patchwork squares.
They're not that brilliant, you have to press quite firmly to make sure you don't start veering off and doing that completely wears my arm out (M.E.) so I tend to stick with scissors.

I think I'll stick to scissors too!

Bosch have bought out an electric rotary cutter so useful for people with wrist hand problems.
I use rotary cutters but found that the larger wheel ones are best for cutting through layers of multiple fabrics. I can cut through four layers of fleece like butter with mine . Olfa`s s are fantastic. The cheap ones are Ok to start off with but then become blunt much quicker.

I have a big cutting mat permanently set out and use it for cutting straight lines, strips for rug making, etc. Very useful and they come in lots of sizes.
It tends to get used just as often for cutting card and paper - which is an ideal way to blunt your rotary cutter.
I use it with a big Omnigrid 6" x 24" ruler - otherwise I'm slipping all over the place.
Still use the scissors a lot as well though: there is something very satisfying about cutting fabric with a nice sharp pair of scissors!
