Hi everyone,
Does anyone use a Cambridge controller for firing their glass kilns? I need to design a glass program using my pottery kiln and controller but don't want to leave it to expensive trials and errors...
All help on this one appreciated as I don't really understand what I'm doing with it all!!

It depends what you want to do with the kiln really...and what type of glass you're using?

Oh right. Well my friend who's doing the glass work has been given a load of glass so we don't know what type it is so it'll need testing. She found a program since I've posted this, how does it sound?....
300 degrees C/hour to 600 degs C
Then 120 degs/hour to top temp of 700
Cooling (which will have to be done manually):
At 570 C cool at a rate of 100 degs/hour until 400 c, then cool normal.
Does that sound typical? What about a soak?

I take mine upto 800 for a full fuse. I'd hold the temp at about 350 for ten mins, 700 for twenty and then again at the top temp for ten. It really does alter kiln to kiln though and also with the type of glass. I use bulleyes with a coe of 90 which is pretty standard.

...sorry forgot to mention....if you're doing large pieces (over a few inches) you'll need to anneal the glass so cool it to a temp of around 600 after you reach the top temp.
