Japanese Textiles books....

Anyone know of a website in the UK that sells similar books and magazines to Superbuzzy (http://www.superbuzzy.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=72)? I love there books, but don't really want to pay £7-8 on postage from US!!

Don't even get me started about this seller !!! Last week i bought 5 ... yes 5 books from her ! She also sells on etsy.

Can't wait to receive the books as there are an awful lot of projects in there that I will be adapting for my new venture. All will be revealed in the New Year ;)

They are all so gorgeous!! I could have kept spending! It's such a shame you can't get them in English!

Are they easy enough to follow? I will be using them mainly for inspiration, but have brought 2 to make dd some clothes so want to be able to translate the pattern ??

I've found them to be very easy to follow - they have really great diagrams and all the measurements are in english, so it's quite simple. Although having said that, I don't know about clothes patterns - I'm not that clever !

The one I have is for clothes for girls and the patterns look easy to follow. I'll post the Etsy link later cos I'm off out now to Anya's concert at nursery!!

Hah - great minds think alike!! I got Girly Style Wardrobe too!! Our daughters will be wearing similar things I think! I'm actually going to attempt to cut out the pattern for a dress this evening - Anya has a nursery party on Monday so I've decided to make her a dress (I haven't told her so if it all goes wrong then she won't be upset!)

Hi Swirly! Fancy seeing you here, remember that rubbish fair at Ligh****er Valley last year?!

Well I've decided it's high time to join a forum and get myself a bit more involved with the craft community (albeit from my living room...)

I've also recently started making clothes, that is, I've attempted one top for my daughter from an old Butterick pattern I got off ebay, but I really enjoyed it even with my limited sewing skills!

So I was wondering, I'd love to make clothes for me and Ebony from Japanese books but how easy is it to do? What's the sizing like for kids (knowing that people in Japan thought Ebony was giant-sized for her age)? I can read a bit of Japanese but not enough to follow a pattern!

So do you think I could do it???

BTW, hi everyone, I'm new and looking forward to helping out anyone who wants to know anything about Japanese crafts if I can xxx

There was a book on there with patterns for women and children, very tempting...

Oh my goodness! I just realised I am actually turning into my mother!!! She used to make all sorts of matching outfits for me and her, I distinctly remember a patterned blue cardigan she knitted, the memory still haunts me...someone please stab me with a knitting needle if I EVER dress my daughter in a matching outfit...

I'm a bit skint at the moment (bad habit, prioritising food over craft I know but can't be helped) but I'll defo get one of those gorgeous books at some point even if I have to ask for it for Christmas!

Oh gosh, I love the fabrics..... I can sort of sew, in straight lines, would it be too indulgent of me to buy fabric anyway?

I have been given a sewing machine but am not allowed to bring it home as I have half of the spare room full of my beady stuff already.

I was thinking about starting to make bags, that robot fabric would be fabulous!

Why, oh why can't I do this crafting stuff full time? Then I would have time to make clothes too......

Hmmm, not sure it'd quite work out like that. I do my business full time and still don't get time to make clothes or do much else! I love what I do though, and that's the main thing.

It's not always easy to find what your looking for, but if you have the name of the book you can search, or I just keep searching different headings and lots of options appear - so you spend ages happily browsing, oh and spending! I've ordered from them twice now and the items arrived safe and they keep you informed about delivery etc.

The site is in English and delivery is free. You don't get charged any customs fees either, which is a bonus, not sure why but I've ordered £40-£50 worth each time.
