Does anyone know of any websites that show you how to make traditional decorations?

After making my BALLS (http://incywincytogs.blogspot.com/2007/11/more-tree-decorations.html) i've decided to go all handmade with the tree this yr and need some inspiration!

Hiya, i made some a few years ago with dough, just cut out shapes and painted them, think i had a diy kit though, i was pleased with them, they looked really 'hand made' in a good way though lol....

When we first got married we were poor as church mice (not much better now!) and we had absolutly no money to spare so I saved up oxo boxes and covered then in wrapping paper. I made salt dough decorations, collected pine cones and other nature treats. I took pasta shapes and glued them together to make snowflakes and then I sprayed everything gold.
many of my decs are still going strong 17 years later and I've added a few more over the years, but I still spray everything gold.

I made these for the christmas tree from fimo. Sold quite a few sets the first year I made them and not had time to make anymore.........LOL. Maybe I should have done these for the christmas fairs instead of the elves!!!

[Apple Tree Crafts]

...I made a dozen dolly peg angels, and sold the lot last Saturday at Bath, so need to make more this week.

I fiddled about with the cinnamon/apple sauce ornie recipe and managed to make a salt dough recipe with it. The ornements take less drying time and the dough is much easier and quicker to work with. I just need to turn them frequently so that they don't dry warped.

What about acorns sprayed with glitter or better still slice up some fruit ie apples,oranges dry them out in the airing cupboard and thread them onto ribbons for the tree and maybe use some cinnamon sticks will give the room a really fruity smell too.

I've just got in some cinnamon sticks to add ribbon to. But I'm liking the dried orange idea ;)

I spent hours last year making gingerbead men/houses with fimo, and then creating sweets and orange and lemon slices with fimo. I also bought the most gorgeous very thin red gingham ribbon which i used like tinsel. We only had a tiny tree as it was our first house, but this weekend i'm off to hobbycraft to go crazy buying felt to make little felt stocking and mittens for the tree and for a felt advent calendar to hang on the wall (i'm a bit behind schedule!)
