I nearly set fire to the house last night!
I put an egg on to boil for my sons lunch box. Then I got on with making some Xmas cards. I got so carried away I forgot to put the timer on, and yes I then went to bed feeling very pleased with the cards I'd made I had forgotten all about the egg.
Lets just say it was rather hard boiled (actualy it resembles some sort of failed science experiment) and the house was full of smoke when we got up this morning.
It has also proved that my smoke alarm is not working!
So beware crafting can be bad for your health!!:o

Thank god the egg was the only thing that got charred. I know we all get carried away and forget the time - I do it so often - they family are so used to me burning the dinner that it's a treat not to have it charred.
Cheers.

Stupid smoke alarm!!!Have to say tho, mine goes off when im cooking and yet when i hold a match underneath it and blow out the match, the smoke billows under it and the alarm does nothing!!

Glad to hear your all okay and can fully understand you saying craft is dangerous! I forget myself half the time when I put stuff on to cook.

Yes I think I was quite lucky to get away with it. The dog was a bit upset and he smells of burnt saucepan as does the rest of the house!
The worst part is that my sons class is going on a visit to a fire station today, and I just know he's going to tell them all about it!

Poor dog ! And you just know your son will tell the firemen ;).
Children are just great that way.

You too with the tea towel?!!! I thought that was just us hehehehe!!!
Ours goes off with heat, not because I burn anything cos I don't do any cooking (except fahitas on a Saturday night!) hehehehe:D
Glad to know all is ok though - your son won't be able to keep that a secret at the firestation!! Perhaps the nice uniformed firemen can come round and check your alarms??!! Hehehehehe;)
