:mad::mad::mad:

Just found out that the local council are going to shut the main road which my shop is on for 5 days next week:mad::mad::mad:. Only discovered this because I saw a sign on the road. All of the traders on our road are hopping mad. We will not be able to get deliveries and our customers will not be able to park outside the shop or anywhere near the shop as normal. Needless to say it looks like im going to lose a lot of business next week. A lot of my customers come by car. They cant park anywhere near either because most of the side streets are dead ends and have double yellow lines. The worst part of it is other than lost sales at what should be my busiest time is the fact that they didnt even bother to inform any of us about it. They are only resurfacing the road, somthing that is not essential and could have waited until after christmas.

So please everyone I need lots of tea and sympathy as im quite wound up about it.

I don't doubt your mad. I would be steaming. Can they do this if they haven't informed you? Even if it does no good I would get onto the council and do some shouting..the least it will do is get rid of some of that anger!
Let us know what happens..

I dont get why they didn't tell you. I thought they had to give public notice for road clousures ?

Any way I would be onto the council anyway to have a good rant.
Next week by tradition is one of the busiest leading up to Christmas.

Lots of hugs coming your way:horse:

Cheers Janice

It would be good to get all the shop keepers together to complain on mass. Power in numbers. You can also contact the local papers and get some free publicity. Offer shoppers cups of tea etc if they bother to come to you! Don't taske this lying down!

I can well believe it of our Council Heather, but not to inform businesses is definately out of order. It won't do any good, but I would complain to the council and Lyndsay Hoyle, our MP.
Thanks for the warning Heather, but I'll make a visit on Tuesday or Wednesday even if I have to park in town and walk! Keep your chin up and try not to worry too much.

Just noticed that you are in Lancs, in which case this doesn't suprise me in the slightest. They did it in Burnley, decided that the main road to Asda, Argos and a couple of other places was going to be dug up so they could put new something under the road. Never thought to tell any of the businesses. No one knew until the road was closed off.

MP, newspapers and TV and complain LOUDLY..........they do it here too, you go to a shop and find you cannot get to it unless you walk for miles.

Keep your chin up................I'll keep my fingers crossed for you..........

They did and it was a nightmare!!! What a pain to do that - hopefully your customers will still come to you.

I'd go for the papers option and at least its also free publicity! :D
