... my sister who is 33 weeks pregnant went into premature labour yesterday after not feeling the baby move for a couple of days. She is in hospital and they are monitoring her and giving her injections to stop the labour and also steroids for the baby to make sure it is developed enough incase it does make an early appearance.

I feel so helpless.

...the baby is on it's way!!!!

My sister is currently being transferred to another hospital as the baby is only 33 weeks and will need SCBU. They have said the baby is healthy and should be about 4/5lbs when born.

We've just got to be patient and wait for it to arrive now.

It's sooo exciting. I can't believe i'm going to be an auntie very soon :D

It's great being an Auntie! And it's great being a Great-Auntie! You can give 'em back at the end of the day!

Best wishes to you and your sister, so pleased the baby is OK and a decent weight. Lovely new baby...mmmmm.

Hope everything goes ok - they do amazing things these days in SCU. 4/5 pounds is a good weight! My youngest was just 6 pound and was 5 days over!!!

Let us know how you / sister get on!

Thinking of you:)

I know it's alright for me to say, but I think you're worrying unnecessarily. Your sister is in the hospital where they have all the expertise, drugs and equipment needed to help her and the baby.

Sending good vibes for a brilliant outcome and hopes that both mother and baby are fine.

Linda

PS I was five pounds when I was born xx years ago and I am the healthiest person I know. :)

I thought I would give you an update...

Well the baby is still not here, which in a way is good.

My sister has been in and out of hospital, her waters have broken fully so the baby can only stay in the womb for a maximum of 2 weeks (1 week has almost past) after that they will induce her.

She has just been admitted again today and they're not sure if the baby is on it's way or not. Midwife says YES Consultant says NO. It won't be long I don't think :mf:

It's just a waiting game at the mo but the end result is well worth the wait :D

I had my son at 34 weeks. He was SBCU for a week. His birth wait was 5lb 2oz.

He will be eighteen in Feb . He is now 6ft 2" and weighs a lot lot more.

These special babies get fantastic treatment and after a months catch up with all the other babies.

Sending you and your sister all my best wishes.

Let us know

Janice.

She's being induced tonight.

She will be 34 weeks at midnight and apparently the baby is 29cm long so they're happy to bring it into the world :)

I will post tomorrow with news!! :D

....Everything will be absolutely fine.

My daughter was just over 5lbs and she arrived right on the day she was due. My niece was only 4lbs something and she was late. They are both very healthy young women now...well, you've seen my daughter at Cheddar!

Can't wait for the news! It's very exciting....
