Hi to all you craftys,
My name is toni, and I am a bit of a craft nutter, i make bows for my grandchildren and i would appreciate any info on how to make satin ribbon and grograin type ribbon stiffer to hold there shape without discolouring the ribbon as i have tried starch but that doesnt work too well.

Hello and welcome.
Isnt there ribbon which has wire running down each side?Admittedly its usually sheer ribbon so may not be what your after but suppose it could be sandwiched and sewn between pieces of ribbon, then shaped into a bow.

Hi , Thanks for the welcome ,such a quick response??
in answer to the question on what the ribbon is made for ,its just hair bows in satin ribbon about 1.5 to 2in long for putting onto hair like on pigtails.
Thanks

Single faced satin ribbon is stiffer than double faced. This works up to about 20mm width after that I dont know.
OR..........
Make your ribbon shape and then with a piece of really fine wire gather it in the middle and twist the wire..You can then over the wire tie your length. If you dont want to use wire you can sew the bow in exactly the same way.
Hope it helps if not I'm sure other suggestions will be along soon.
