hi
i did my first craft fair today and was really pleased that i made £60! i was quite worried as after reading so many posts from crafters that have had negative experiences, i was only hoping to break even. however, the girl next to me who makes candles, said this was a poor fair to start with as it was quiet - she made £300 on thursday night at a school fair!! like others who have gone to these events, of the 19 tables 7 (including me) were selling jewellery. of those, only me and one other had made the jewellery ourselves, the others were selling on mass produced stuff. all in all, i found it a good experience and won't be quite so nervous before my next one.
thanks to everyone who has answered my questions.
Alison

Well done on your first craft fair! It does give you a buzz knowing people like what you do.

Your neighbour on the next craft table was right sometimes the alternative fairs like 'school fairs' are really more successful.

Last weekend I had a stall at a cider festival and I took over three times as much as I normally do at a traditional town craft fair. I think people are at these other venues longer, and therefore not just passing through like craft fairs.
Also I think the cider helped!!!:mf:

Ohh Alison, thats great news!!

Made me feel better to know that some can do well on their first one. Mine was terrible :( - but I have a second one booked on 10th November, so fingers crossed its a better one.

Well done you!!

Alisoni . Well done on your first fair. It's just knowing where to go and I've learned so much from other crafters at these things it's not always about the money on the day. Any way the people in N.I. are great at spending their cash !!! So I'm sure you will do really well.

Cheers Janice.:horse:

Well done, I went to a craft fair as a visitor last week just to check it out. I was disappointed that a lot of the jewellery stalls sell mass produced too. I spend a lot of time and effort making jewellery and it breaks my heart to see people not doing it. However, I hope it all goes well in the future for you too.
