I have been asked by a wholesaler (not in the UK) for my VAT reg (easy enough) and a copy of my business licence ( http://auntysforum.com/forum/smileys/default/crazy.gif (javascript:void(0);)), without sounding totally stupid which is gonna be hard - whats one of them??????
Have i missed something, i am registered with Revenue & Customs and i'm VAT registered, what else is there???

I have no idea what a business licence is either and I've not come across it before. Where is your wholesaler from? Maybe they have business licences wherever they live and just assumed that you would have one too.

Hi
I'd call your local business link for advise. I haven't heard of anything like this except for food production and sale or potentially import/export. I also am just registered with Inland Revenue and with insurers and have never been asked for one!

Maybe they mean company registration certificate.

A business licence is what all retailers in the US need before wholesalers will sell to them. I would let your wholesaler know that UK trading law does not require a business licence. :)
