Making labels for garments

Some more advice here please.

I want ideas of labels/tags to make to attatch to my knits that I.m selling at our craft fayre.

I want them to be the tie on sort, but to be slightly different, not too big, but with an earthy, natural sort of look.I need to be able put washing instructions on them, and I want them to look expensive, designery sort of thing..

My stall is mainly mohair and angora knits, gloves, scarves etc, that have a Nordic look/feel to them, and am going to dress the stall with a white cloth, and driftwood,and large pebbles (another member on here gave me the brilliant driftwood idea)

All the lables I've seen to buy look boring, so I want to design some of my own, any suggestions please, possibly using card (if I can find it!) that looks like brown paper, and rough string.What could I use as a template? Where can I get that sort of card? What sort of shape? etc...

Hi, I know what you mean but have absolutely no idea of where to find that type of card etc. I was looking for 'rough string' a while ago and just couldn't find any (obviously looking in the wrong place). Good luck!

Try garden twine - that might give you the look you want. You could try just using brown paper and backing it onto card or try dying white card with cold tea.

If you look on http://www.eco-craft.co.uk/acatalog/Papers.html they have 'hairy manilla paper' apparantly it's a stiff rough textured paper, they also have other recyled paper & card - it's worth a look!

Thank you for replies and links, i've just done an order there, perfect for waht I want, and a few bits for my daughter too to try her hand at card-making.
