Secret Santa
Any active member of the forum is welcome to join, but you must have been a member for at least 6 weeks from this post date
Your gift must be handmade with love by you.
Your present is to be sent recorded delivery no later than Friday 7th December
It’s obviously hard to put a cost on a present, as different craft materials vary so much. So we have decided to say a material cost of up to £5. Just try to make your gift special for your recipient !
Cut off date to join and be a Secret Santa is 31st October and we will try and get your recipients details to you by that following weekend.**http://www.mumszone.co.uk/forums/images/smilies/xmas-smiley-005.gif** UPDATE 16/10/07 - We now have enough ANGELS! Thanks to all those who have put there name forward. :)
**http://www.mumszone.co.uk/forums/images/smilies/xmas-smiley-005.gif** UPDATE 01/11/07 -
POSTING your item...
Post on/or as near to the 7th December as possible, so that everyone gets their gift around the same time
Your present must be sent by recorded delivery
Put your return address **** BUT use the name S.Claus ***** to try and keep your identity secret for as long as possible!
Make sure you gift wrap your item for your recipient and put a tag/business card or similar inside the gift wrap.
Post on this thread once you have received your gift
And finally, enjoy opening your Secret Santa gift on Christmas morning**http://www.mumszone.co.uk/forums/images/smilies/xmas-smiley-005.gif** UPDATE 22/11/07 - Please read the 'POSTING your item' bit above as changes have been made. =D
______
These rules may be added to if we think of anything else, so keep checking back.
Just so you know Me and TipTop are organising this years Secret Santa, so feel free to contact either of us.
And thanks to beadsbydesign for all your info. x

Over the next few days I will be pm’ing everyone with details of there recipient.
Please check the first post on this thread as I’ve updated it with more info about posting/packaging. (As mentioned before, this initial post may be updated over the next few weeks so keep checking for any further details)
One question… Are we going to open the presents on Christmas day, or as received? You can decide and then we can all do it together (lol! What fun)
Hope that all makes sense?
Please keep your recipient details secret. We don't want to spoil the fun :D
swirlyarts
02-11-2007, 06:38 AM
This may be a stupid question but do we put something in the packaging to say who we are - I've done some where it's kept completely secret (which is a bit daft really) or some were you say who it's from.
I vote to let your recipient know who you are - although people might be able to guess!
candles by lisa
02-11-2007, 06:52 AM
Yep I agree. As Sam says add a return address to the packaging without your name on it but put something with your name on it on the gift but underneath the wrapping so people don't know who their secret santa is until they open it.
Cheers.

If we're sending our crafts, won't most people have their personalised details on the actual item? So when you open it, you'll know who sent what to whom.
I should love to keep mine 'til the day itself...but I've no willpower when it comes to gifts!

I think we are putting names on the actual pressie, but it's just so you don't know who your santa is untill you open the pressie... more of a surprise that way? Am i right ?
I would have though 'Mrs Smith' etc would do for recorded delivery, i mean i don't know any of your surnames...

we could all put Mrs (or Mr) Smith on our packages, but with our correct return address. At the end of the day it's the return address that's important, postie should still put it through your door regardless of the name, they have to apparently. Thats why we still get mail for the people who used to live here 5 years ago, even though the postie knows they don't live here now.

You ladies outnumbers the actual number of Misters on the Secret Santa list and that would almost be a giveaway in itself!

Yeah, JBJB, how did Marlborough go? I finished work late so didn't go into town that Saturday. Good luck with Devizes today and Seend.

As some of you may know, I suffer from M.E. it's not something I publicise much as it's all very boring telling people how tired you get, but these past few weeks of fairs have really knocked me sideways. I knew it would be hard but you have to take what you can get at this time of year because I know it's going to be dead come January, February and March. I didn't do Marlborough last Saturday because by the time I got home from a (rubbish) fair on the Friday evening before I could barely walk from fatigue. Likewise I didn't do Seend today for the same reason. I know it's a shame, and I may get a bad reputation, but I have to put my health first - real life interferes some times! Anway, I don't want to hijack this thread, so I'll shut up now.

Just a wee thought....
If we're all aiming to post on 7th, or thereabouts, hadn't we better think about delivery? Make sure there's going to be someone at your address on 8th/9th to sign for the goodies!
Otherwise, we'll all be trooping around to the local RM offices to collect our pressies...

Our postmen/women just stick them through the doors/leave them in the wheelie bin/in the porch regardless of any requirement for signatures... so I'll expect the same service I guess...

I also saw an idea on another forum where each member posts there likes and dislikes i.e colours, tastes, seasons etc. To give the secret santa more of an idea about that person.
I think also if we have soap, chocoalte, canldes etc people involved everyone should state if they have any allergies? (Thought of that after seeing Glasskanvas's tree issues the other day!)
