BBD was nearly right - it is flying to Canada but only on route to.......

.......the North Pole!!!!!! Sparklez was right!! How did you guess?

It is going as part of the first British solo and unsupported attempt to walk to the magnetic North Pole in Winter!!! Isn't that exciting!!!

I didn't think of sending her out in her winter woolies! I suppose she will be fine in the sled! Here's the website for Craig who is doing the walk. Not intended to make you give money but do feel free to if you so wish! Or just send messages of support.

Swirlyarts,

I hate to break it to you, and anyone else who sponsored the idiot that is Craig Colclough, but have a read of this:

(I had included a URL to the Forres Gazette here, but as a new user it is not permitted)

From the Forres Gazette:

Fund-raising trek exposed as a sham
Published: 19 December, 2007
A DARE-DEVIL plan to walk to the North Pole in winter, hatched by a former Forres man, today lies broken and discredited.

Craig Colclough (37), who described himself as a City banker, ex-Royal Marine Reservist and Territorial Army medic, contacted the "Forres Gazette" in September asking the paper to promote his fund-raising expedition "Chasing the Aurora" during which he planned to walk 700 miles over frozen pack ice from Resolute Bay in Canada to the Magnetic North Pole in temperatures ranging from minus 40C to a lowest recorded of minus 68C. He hoped the expedition would raise £50,000 for Royal British Legion and the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association.
The expedition was due to start at the end of November when Mr Colclough said he would be flying from London to Ottawa, in Canada then on to Iqaluit in Nunavut, en route to Resolute Bay on the Canadian Arctic. Through the "Gazette", he asked readers to support him via the website (link removed as I cannot post URL's as a new user)

However, just last week, the "Gazette" received an email from Mr Jim Colclough, Craig's father, saying the whole expedition was a sham. Mr Colclough sen., described Craig as a "Walter Mitty" character who had always struggled to tell the truth.
Mr Colclough sen. said that his son's personal life was a mess. He said he had been married with three children, left his wife and had a relationship with a Czech woman called Sylvie and only this summer married a climatologist called Dr Georgina Miles.
Mr Colclough went on: "She called me up. She was concerned because she didn't know anything about his past and some of the things the 'Dr Craig Colclough', a GP and TA Major said, did not add up. I told her to get the police, which she did. He has been arrested in Taunton for bigamy and in London for impersonating a doctor."
In his email, Mr Colclough finished by saying: "In conclusion, this idiot is in so much trouble you couldn't make it up. He is trying to a 'Lord Lucan'. There is no way this idiot is going to the North Pole. He is trying to make a very public disappearance to get rid of the heat."
In another damning indictment of the man, a Sunday newspaper last week published an exposee on his double life, claiming he married his current wife while he was still married to the Czech woman. The newspaper said that at his wedding he had worn the uniform of a TA Major with medals and a sword which did not go together.
The article claimed he had lived a series of lies, using different identities and fake qualifications.
In the meantime, the website set up by Colclough to document his trip to the Magnetic North Pole is currently closed down. The official line is that his trip has been postponed due to a knee injury.

* Editor's note: My sincere apologies if any readers were tricked into supporting this man's fund-raising expedition. We, like a number of other newspapers, were taken in by his lies. It appears that the only time he spoke the truth was when he said he was born in Leanchoil Hospital, Forres, into an RAF family.

Regards,

Cornelius.

Ok!

I still think it was worth making your membership aware, incase any made donations.

Anyway, given that you seem to know him, be on the lookout for his latest adventure, whatever that will prove to be, as I don't believe for one minute he has suddenly stopped his obsession with lies.

This is one dangerous individual who should be made a pariah online, as thats how he feeds his delusions and targets his victims.

Try a google search for some rather shocking revelations, and thats not even the tip of the iceberg.

Matt found the Aurora man through a forum he posts on sometimes and thought it would be a great idea to get the chicken up there. It seems however that lots of people have been duped by this guy and I have read some very nasty things about him which I'm not going to share here. Ah well - he's got a free chicken doorstop out of it!
