I just bought a light tent to hopefully improve my pics.
Bargain off ebay, £11 inc p+p.
Now all I need is a full spectrum light bulb.
Anybody here have one, are they any good?

Hi Seahorse
I have just got myself a light tent too. I am using Daylight Bulbs which I use anyway when I am working, and they seem to be OK. I have two lamps with the daylight bulbs in, quite close to the tent at the sides, and I think the piccies look OK - heaps better than before anyway. You can get the daylight bulbs at most craft shops, either as screw in or bayonet, or even energy efficient ones now I think.
Hope this helps

HI Mary, i just had a look and saw a pic of yours in a tent.It certainly seems to make the piece stand out more, cant wait to give it a go.

I made myself a light box and the difference in picture quality is amazing. I am however back to taking photo's outside while this nice weather lasts!

Woohoo, I got my light tent!!
Now, can I get away with using a normal household bulb or should i get a full spectrum bulb?

You'll get a colour cast if you use a normal household bulb - either orangy or blueish, so I'd go for a daylight bulb:D

They eventually replied but only read it this morning. It would have costed an extra £7.25 for a friday delivery.Just gona have to corss my fingers and hope to get it saturday.
Wish id not cared about money last week, I only didnt buy it last week as I felt like Id spent oo much this month already.I have since spent about another £60!!
I ordered a light tent thingy and it will (fingers crossed) be with me Monday. I'm hoping to get better photos of my jewellery as I'm not happy with pics I did previously. Can anyone tell me the best lights to use to show the sparkle accurately? I have a daylight lamp but no "specialist" lighting.

So, new piccies were taken, with a combo of the tent, me shining the light on the jewellery and a flash on the camera we got some good pictures, some with that little sparkle 'ting' going on.They looked great on my pals computer but the emails he sent me loook a bit grainy which is a shame.
Anyhoo, a new generation of goodies to go on the site.
Seahorse - glad your tent arrived. Mine did too but I haven't played with it yet :) Hope to get it set up tomorrow and experiment.

Hi Everyone I have decided to invest in a light box cube. But there are so many on offer and with it coming up to Christmas I was wondering if anybody could recommend the seller they bougth from ? I've also read somewhere (can't find the post, so appologies if it's you) that somebody paid extra and bought the lights with their box. If this is you can you please let me know who the seller was and what the lights were called please, been looking for ages but still confused. Thanks all :D
This (http://www.ezcube.co.uk/)is the official UK supplier
or this (http://photography.search.ebay.co.uk/light-tent_Studio-Equipment-Lighting_W0QQ_trksidZm37QQcatrefZC12QQfromZR10QQfs ooZ1QQfsopZ1QQftrtZ1QQftrvZ1QQga10244Z10425QQsabfm tsZ1QQsacatZ3860QQsaprchiZQQsaprcloZ)is the ebay listings
The light tents themselves aren't that exensive, it's the lighting that costs the money, so it depends on your budget really.
Good luck
