View Full Version : Missing Package

As you know, I buy a lot of fabrics from the USA via eBay.
Recently, I've ordered two lots, about a week apart. The second lot arrived last Friday but no sign of the first order.
Now, I'm a bit cheesed off because it occured to me that I have seen this package. A week ago last Monday I was drying my hair upstairs, using the mirrored doors of the wardrobe to see myself. This means I get a clear, but backwards view of my neighbour's house.
Anyhoo, during the hairdrying a van pulled up at the end of my drive, so I stopped drying to be nosey, thinking the driver was coming to our house, but he went next door and delivered a parcel. US Mail flatrate envelopes are very distinctive and this is what was delivered. So now I'm guessing it was my fabric as the RM said that my parcel was delivered when I checked the tracking code.
Thing is, RM didn't get a signature for my parcel, they've admitted this, and my neighbour isn't the world's most scrupulous of people.......so, I am without £40 worth of fabric (11 yards) and I can't do a bl**dy thing about it. RM say I cannot prove the package wasn't delivered to my door.
I have been around to nextdoors to ask if anything of mine has been delivered there by mistake, but they said they haven't had any parcels for months.......
I am SO miffed.:mad::mad::mad:

Ow Jules, you are in a catch 22, why not check with the delivery firm if they got a parcel from the person who delivered it. They must keep records and surely would be able to tell if they had received a parcel. If they have then you can do down the route of you never got it where did it go.
Not much but hope it helps some.
Sorry Jules.

...are complete fools.
The tracking online says the package was delivered to my address, and gives the date & time of delivery, but the signature box is empty. So I can't say that I didn't receive it because the fabric company won't take my word over the RM's.
That's whats so damned annoying. I know I haven't had it, but what can I do? I have no proof that it went next door. We are 22, they are 22A, but they don't have anything written on their door to say what number they are. It all comes down to honesty and they didn't even see my name and say to the postie that the package wasn't theirs. The postie should have gotten a signature, the prat!

I would maybe get a bit stroppy with royal mail - threaten formal complaints really lay it on thick because the way Royal Mail are just now they don't want negative press. Press the fact that the parcel was from overseas and should have been signed for which is their error.
Good luck Jules.

Argue it more with RM - if there was meant to be a signature, then who signed for it?
They need to prove that they delivered the parcel to your house and someone signed for it with the authority to accept it. They can't do this, since they haven't got the proof.
The fact that your neighbour is a thief isn't good news, either. I'd suggest fire-bombing their house, but that might be a bit too far.

...I do love the firebomb idea! Especially as their eldest son is proudly working towards his ASBO.
This is a little village, and it used to be quiet and peaceful (ish) until they moved in.
I have now obtained Royal Mail's international mail complaints department phone number, and I'm in the queue as I type.....sheesh..musak...
...keep you all posted!

.......according to Tony at RM a signature was not required, which is why the signature box online was empty. It was sent trackable door to door through USPS Global Priority. The package was tracked using the barcode on the label, but as it wasn't sent 'signed for' it therefore wasn't signed for....
It is however, down as being delived to my address on Monday 27th August at 11.17am. Therefore the chances of this of the parcel being the same one as was delivered to my neighbour is greater, but still unproven. RM refuse to tell me if my neighbour had a parcel delivered to them that day as it is 'not your business'
RM cannot advise what my next step should be, except for complaining to the sender that they should have sent the package by 'signed for' means...
Great. Wonderful. Fantastic. Thank you Royal Mail.

What pratts.I suggest you ask for the specific postman that delivered the package to show you which door he went to and to descibe the person he handed it to.But obviously that would be beneficial to you so they wont do it.
Can't you call your neighbours bluff? Say you've spent all day on the phone trying to track down this parcel and finally got a name for it - his!
