hi.
i have just joined the forum and would appreciate your advice. i have approached a local garden centre with a large gift shop about selling my hand-made jewellery. they have agreed to see my work, though have admitted they normally just bulk buy in their jewellery. i suggested they try it on a sale or return basis and have read up on the forum different threads related to this. however, now the time has come for me to speak to them i am scared!!! i have made a note of what i am bringing, suggested price for each piece and have boxed them in their own boxes. as i said when introducing myself to the forum, i have only sold to friends and family before so am new to all of this. if anyone could suggest anything else i might need, it would be much appreciated.
thanks

Hi Alison,
You've already spoken to them and they want to see you so don't be scared, the hard bit is making contact. Be confident. Don't forget to take some business cards, also ask about your own labelling. It would be benefical to you if you had your contact details, web address etc. on the boxes. Then people will come back to you. I don't think this would be unreasonable if it is on a sale or return basis.
Good luck.

I would obviously take a notepad to jot down what they say and some business cards.
Have you agreed terms for the sale or return? things like what happens in the event of theft etc!! (best to cover yourself don't want to be out of pocket). Be confident, it is your goods you are selling and nobody knows as much about them as you do!!
Good luck.

That's brilliant - no doubt your things will soon start flying off the shelves.
Excellent.

Well done!! :first:
You must be so chuffed!
I'm too late to be of any use to the original poster, but, I find that it's very important to sort out when you'll actually get your money when things sell. It can be so annoying having to chase people up for dribs and drabs of money and harder to keep good records of what's sold, so sometimes it can be best to set a date every month or so that you'll be paid on to avoid any confusion or unwanted hassle!

That is great that they agreed about taking your stuff in!!! :mf:
I am gonna do the same soon, so nervous about it, never liked doing this kind of "selling myself" stuff, but as said, have to start somewhere.
Great blog entry about SorR, helped me a lot.

Hi Ozzie here from fraught-iron,I started off making and selling to friends an family, then i approached a local shop about taking some of my pieces.
They were pleased to do so and sold loads of stuff for me,i told them my price and they put on their own mark up,it worked great for me.
I,m still only selling in a small way as a hobby as yet but who knows.
Never put yourself down if you dont try you will never know.
Regards Ossie.:D
