Hi Guys,
Looking for your expert advice again :D
A friend has asked me to make some stud type earrings for her. I've found the flat pads and the rhinestone type glass cabochon thingys that she wants. My question is what is the best thing to use to attach the cabachon to the ear post? Superglue? Also does it matter if the cabochons are foil backed? will this affect the 'sticking' factor of the glue?
Thanks in advance
Carol

We do help pages every issue called skill ups or how tos and we're looking for products or techniques that beaders have problems with, so that we can then give step by step instructions about how to do it.
The Hypo Cement is a great one - are there any more little gems?

Hi,
Resurrecting this thread as i need some more help with these earrings.
I tried using the hypo cement and followed the instructions, waited until it was tacky before sticking together, and then left it to set. I actually left it for 24 hours as I was at work and stuff.
Checked the earrings the following night and the cabachons came off the posts with the slightest pressure, leaving the foil backing on the post.
Two questions: 1) I guess I shouldn't be using foil backed cabs? and 2) is there any way to rescue the posts? ( they are sterling silver)
Thanks in advance
Carol

I use the same cement as what Peter suggested, and i have never had any problem with it unsticking and things falling off.
Did you clean both the stone and the earring pad before applying? Sometimes the grease from either side can make it fall off.
