well you said ask away, so here gos. I been making candles in moulds for a while with no problems (well nothing that i couldnt fix) and am now playing with container candles. I cant get the wax to stick to teh glass well. i heat the glass up first and it doesnt make much difference. am i being a scaredy cat and need to heat it up more?

Wet spots are a right pain in the bum. Just crank up the heat gun and melt until you see the air bubble rising. Sometimes I have had to melt the entire outer layer of the candle (well more times than not to be honest) but you will find that when the candle sets it will have stuck to the glass - but I really don't think there is anyway of getting rid of the wet spots because you could make a lovely container candle and not a wet spot in sight - got back to it a week later and peek a boo there all over the jar.

Just make sure your glasses are really clean (Zebra gave me the name of a great glass cleaner which I got, but I can't remember the name of it off of the top of my head), make sure you warm them up and try not to touch the inside of the glass once you have cleaned it because the oils on our skin act as a barrier to the wax.

Like I say it is pretty much a losing battle with wet spots but don't be afraid just melt the outside with the heat gun and the candle will set fine. You will need to melt the top of the candle too as when the bubbles rise they make a mess of the top - but watch you don't have the heat gun on too high because I set fire to the wick with mine once and had to scrap it and start again.

Now are you still awake after all that.

Cheers.

Yep after it has set cause you will only know if you have wet spots when the candle is totally cool.

Cheers.

Not at all - they used to drive me batty but after driving myself nuts trying to get rid of them learned that life is too short and just except the buggers. Hey have a look at the Yankee candles and see what I mean.

Cheers.

well i was well happy when the wet spots disappeared, only ot be even more upset when they were back again this morning. But, having looked at your websites your stuff is great and if pros like you can get away wit them than I am not going to worry about them.

lol...

Wet spots used to be the bane of my life and drove myself completely batty trying to get rid of them only for them to be back larger than life in the morning...

Much more of a problem in the winter months - given up trying to solve it and just live with it now... One a warmish day by lunchtime they've all normally gone anyway...:p
