Just been having a bit of a clear out in my loft room (aka my office/studio!) and came across my old stylophone! Now did anyone ever manage to get any half decent tunes out of one of these things or did Rolf Harris just use his nice guy genial persona to con us into buying something with which we never had a hope in hells chance of getting a tune out of?!!

And do you think when he used to do those big paintings on the giant blank sheet of paper on his Saturday evening show humming "dim-dim-dim-dim-dibby-dum-dim" and constantly asking "Can ya see what it is yet?" that really he had drawn a faint pencil image on there beforehand to fool us into thinking he was doing it all from scratch?!! Still, 'Two Little Boys' - what a great record and a great punk cover by Splodgenessabounds too!

Had a stylophone thingy and it sounded hellish - like a sound from the bowels of hell itself - nop never played anything even remotely decent on the thing - I hated it but I begged my parents to get me one.

When it comes to the painting - who knows!!

Hehe.

I miss cartoons and I miss Rolf Harris drawing Tom or Jerry before the cartoon is played.

I also have to say that Rolf is the only person to explain Picasso to me(on one of his art shows) so I can actually understand his work, I like Picasso now.

So please dont hate Rolf for the stylephone era, think of all his other good work.

I used to bump into Rolf at the airport most weeks some years ago.

He always seems polite to everyone, but had the most battered suitcase I think I've ever seen.

Good guy.

Don't get me wrong - I'm actually a great fan of Rolf, both his art and music (i have several CDs of his songs!). He is probably the only person who was ever actually talented enough to get a good tune out of the stylophone! I'd forgotten good old cartoon time but I think some of his finest moments were in Animal Hospital, where unlike many a presenter he truly seemed to care.

So I think the general concensus was as I suspected:

Rolf Harris - all round number one good guy and long may his talents reign!

Good guy :)

'I'm Jake the Peg, doodle doodle doodle dum, with my extra leg, doodle doodle doodle dum, wherever I go through rain or snow, the people always let me know, I'm Jake the Peg doodle doodle doodle dum, with my extra leg!!

You now all recognise me as the sad person I really am!

I won't do the Court of King Caractacus!!
