View Full Version : Sympathy needed
Last week I fractured the little toe on my right foot. It swelled up and turned a lovely shade of purple and black.
This morning, I banged it against a wooden box we have on the floor.
Now it really hurts and is throbbing away....

Ooooooh I bet that hurt.Ive seriously banged my toe before and I know how muc it hurts...actually, thinking about it I dropped a plate on my toe and the edge of the plate hit the toenail, it bled loads and took 2 years for a new nail to grow in!!
You have lots of sympathy from me.

Ow god stubbing your toe when it's not broken is painful enough - I can only imagine how you feel.
Now I work in a hospital so I prescribe a good bottle of wine and a bar of chocolate sitting with your feet up will work wonders - Maybe not take the pain away but after the wine you'll feel a whole lot better.
Hope the toe is better soon.

ooooh - my little pinkie sympathises with your little pinkie!
It's amazing isn't it - it's the smallest bloomin' thing on my entire body and it's caused me so much grief this last week! I don't suppose it helps that my chosen profession is sewing that means I have to use a pedal with the very foot that's bad!!
Thanks for all your words of sympathy and hugs.
I haven't opened the wine just yet as I do still have some orders to make, but I have shoved a couple of jaffa cakes in my mouth.....
Currently have a really thick pair of fluffy socks on and my mock-crocks to defend against future bangs!

Jaffa Cakes (a whole packet) can be used in many urgent medical cases.
This, it appears, is just one of them.
The situations in which to administer jaffa cakes are not easily recognised, and the thought 'better safe than sorry' is one which can be applied in agony toe situations.
I ate them by the packet when pregnant first time. I was fully expecting at least a 10 pound baby due to the 3.5 stone I put on. But no, he was 6.1 and the rest was pure chocolate
heheheheh!!;)
Aah yes, the consumption of one packet of Jaffa Cakes does have side effects though. It can lead to the male partner of the victim exclaiming "bloody hell, when did you eat all those?!"
They are also best eaten by nibbling the sponge bit away, then carefully removing the chocolate until you are left with the "smashing orangey bit" to waggle about on your tongue to any passers-by who may be watching. Or is that just me? ;)

Good! Glad it's not just me :)
Does your husband pull one of "those" faces if he sees you doing it?

Ahhhh! You too!!
Samuel used to demand 'cat pis' at tea time (he was not quite 2 bless). We wondered what the hell he was on about until we realised he meant jaffa cakes.....:D:D:D He still does sponerisms and words all mixed up.......:mf:

OUCH ! Poor JB :nopity:
Can one ask how you broke the pinkie in the first place (was it too much of the sort of 'medicines' you were being advised about in an earlier post...:D)

It's really rather embarrasing.... (no, before you have smutty thoughts!)
We replaced our guest-bed matress which needing taking to the recycling centre. Because DH couldn't do it straight away and didn't want it to get wet outside in the rain we left it leaning against the wall that is right behind my computer desk. Anyway, one evening last week, I turned round on my chair got up and caught my little toe on the piped edging bit of the matress and "separated" it from the rest of my toes. It hurt a bit, but nothing major. Did bath and bedtime duties, came back downstairs and went on the computer (probably went on the forum!). Got off my chair and did exactly the same thing!!Only this time I heard it go "crack" and it really hurt. After much cursing and hopping round I decided to have a rest and sit and make some jewellery rather than sewing. Sat down at the dining room table and got it again on the table leg !!
It's definitely broken/fractured as I can't straighten it. Rang the surgery and spoke to the nurse who said there's nothing you can do for a broken pinkie and to stay off it for a few days. All from a squidgy matress!
Probably not a good idea then to walk round bare-footed walking into wooden boxes!
It's still a lovely shade of purple!
Very long post, but you did ask :)

:D:D:D I'm sorry - I shouldnt laugh but it does make funny reading ! Poor you ! I do know how painful it is having also broken a toe once upon a time and in those days they used to strap it to the toe next to it to keep it from mending curly (eek. ! dont want piggy toes !).
:D:D:D I'm sorry - I shouldnt laugh
S'alright.... my bestest friend is a nurse and she nearly wet herself! Charming!
Curly toes - she never said anything about curly toes...... eughh!
