.....I know I am very very very sad but just had to go and see Harry Potter on Saturday - but really really really had to get the new book - so did that before I went to see the film on Saturday. It is now a toss up between The Deathly Hallows, the forum and my candle making!! Definitely not the day job though!!!
It's okay I wont let slip the ending to anyone (unless bribed very heavily).
Hehe.

Your not sad Lisa, I want to see the film too.

I have a number of admissions to make.. I am 38 but I love Harry Potter. Each time any of the films have opened (except for the latest one ) I have seen it on opening night. When I went to work ;) I used to have a golden snitch keyring with my office pass on hanging off my bag (it's still here somewhere) and in the winter I always wear a Slytherin scarf. My ATC collection is kept in a Harry Potter file. Before I met my partner I went out with a lad that all my friends called 'Harry' behind his back as they thought he looked like him! Scruffy dark hair, lanky and round glasses! (He was a grown up by the way I am not that bad!!)
I am a sad old woman I know.. but I don't care! :p

Your not sad at all Anice, I am 39 (only just turned 39 in June so not that much passed it yet) and I lover Harry Potter - I suppose I am lucky cause I can get all the Harry Potter goodies and say it is for the kids - yeah right so who is reading the new book first? It certainly aint any of the kids.
Enjoy Potter mainia I am going on my tea break in a minute so can cram in a bit of the book.
Cheers.

The thing I find funny is the fact that they do an 'adult' version with a different picture - wheres the fun in that! I bought the kids version!

I love the films and can't wait to see the latest one ....but.... and this is very sad, I won;t read the books because I started reading the first one and had such a bad nightmare I haven;t picked them up since.....and I am 35!!!!!!!!!!! Now how pathetic is that!!!!
.... and is it very wrong of me to admit that I have a little bit of a thing for the new grown up Harry Potter, or more likely Daniel Radcliffe, especially after seeing the pictures from his stage show!!!!:sm:

I'm sure I read somewhere that those photos weren't all entirely him....
Oh, and dare I confess I've never seen a Harry Potter film from start to finish..... (sorry)

I started and finished the book on Saturday - I read very fast! It's very good and I cried at bits - especially at the end but not because it is sad but because of something else that happens - maybe it's just me being soppy!
That probably won't make much sense until you have read the book but there you go!! Enjoy it if you are reading it!

I know what you mean - the books I dont find too bad but when I went to cinema and watched the Harry Potter with the spiders in I was so scared. I looked round the cinema and there were all these little kids a fraction of my age with big grins on their faces!! I felt just a tad pathetic!! 3 hours till work is over and the curtain lifts for me!!

I love the Harry potter books and films. went to see the new film last week and loved it, it was so much better than the book and the spec effects were amazing. Am currently on chapter 15 of new book and i am hooked, my 12 year old is abit miffed that i am further on with it than he is. Ron is by far my favourite.:mf:

yes, I'm 32 and I also LOVE Harry Potter!! I've read all the books 3 times over now and have watched the DVD's countless times. I do prefer the books in most cases as theres so much more detail in them especially Harrys thoughts and feelings which you just dont get in films.
But I've been to see the latest film twice now and its really good - they are all so much better actors now and the storyline is so much more grown up compared to the first couple of books/films. I just wish the films were longer and covered more aspects of the books - for instance, the house-elves hardly get a look in in any of the films but theres loads of stuff in the books about them.
I have one small gripe with the ending of the final book as there was one point about voldemort and his family background that I thought was going to get mentioned but never did and I almost think JKR forgot about it! But I dont want to say anything as I dont want to spoil anyones enjoyment - I didnt switch the TV on for 2 days until I'd finished the book as someone was bound to spoil it!!!

At church on Sunday, the first words that were said in the service by the person leading the service were "I do not want anyone to spoil Harry potter for me!"

I haven't bought the new harry potter yet. I've not long started to read the latest that Jasper Fforde has to offer, so I have to read that first before even buying Harry Potter... (or I'll start dipping into that too) that'll keep me on my toes!
I'm hoping to see the film this weekend.

I'm with you on this one - I have a good idea what you mean and the same thing happened to me. I've bought a copy for my cousin who will be 30 this week - I bought the adult cover for her (not for my copy!!) - have I made a mistake?

I've just had a T-shirt made that gives away the ending.
Thought I might wear it in to work next week - there are lots of people reading the book on the tube at the moment.
Is that wrong?
Schadenfreude.

Ooooohhhhhh that is soooo wrong - in a wicked type way - but I have finished the book so tension has left me now. My worse half (cause he certainly aint the better half) kept threatening to tell me the end of the book cause he had sneeked a look at the last pages (he's not a potter fan). Needless to say he was threatened with starving and going without clean cloths for a very very long time if he did that!!!
hehe.

Very wrong, but more than that Mr Swirl, I fear for your safety. Are you insured?

PS I consoled myself with non-stop reading last weekend when Sudeley was cancelled and read it from cover to cover without stopping.

I know - she's lovely, and looks a bit wild. Mind you, Tonks isn't in it enough, either.

Tonks is the one that changed hair colour all the time (not dying it she can change it by thinking about it I think). Don't ask me who plays her though I haven't got a clue!

Ah yes, I know who you mean.
There are so many characters they hardly have time to do any acting.Emma Thompson played such a small role.

Hardly surprising - it takes Stephen Fry over 24 hours to read books 5, 6 and 7 (each), so the films need to cut out loads. If I hadn't read the books, I'm not sure that I could understand the films, since nothing is every explained about what has happened, by whom or why.
Apart from that, I think they're really good.

I have to agree with that because I have read the books can follow what is going on - but if you haven't it might be a bit confusing.

Do you guys know who dies at the end?
I dont know but I think somebody on a comedy programme hinted at one of the main characters.I know one of the main people dies but it really annoyed me that anything was said.
I dont want any of them to die.
Please DONT tell me who it is.I may cry at work.

If you read my other posts, you'll know that I know everything!
Remember - everyone dies at some stage. I just thought it was a shame that J.K.Rowling had to end it with "And it was all a dream."

There are only two books which don't end in a death. If you've not read them all by now, then you need to start quickly before I post the ending on here...
