friends,

i recently purchased a paragon kiln and a wheel. i've been throwing pots for a while now but i can't seem to get the hang of the glazing. a lot of my glazes will just bleed which is driving me crazy.

i use laguna brand cone 5 (everything i do is cone 5 so far).

plz look at the following samples and i'm open to any tips. ok, apparently i'm not allowed to link to outside urls so no examples. basically, i'd painted varies designs w/ one glaze and then painted around it with another and the glazes would bleed into each other. however, on one piece i did a wax relief and painted around w/ glaze and it barley bleed at all.

thanks!

Hi
To work out why glazes bleed you need to consider the recipes of each glaze. If you're trying to get crisp colours alongside each other you might consider using decorating slips or oxides at the leatherhard stage, or underglaze colours at bisque stage, and using a transparent glaze over the lot...
