Just back from a foray round a couple of car boot fairs and have been happily successful, considering the poor showing last weekend.

£1 - Small Bodum teapot for OH who broke his pottery teapot a week or two ago. It's only him who drinks tea and you wouldn't believe how difficult it is to find teapots small enough!

£1 - Small shelving unit (was probably a display unit for thimbles or some such originally). I can use this on my craft stall to display the brooches, hairclips and some of the scented sachets I make.

50p each - Two cross stitch booklets for small Christmas decorations - I can use up some of my huge stash of aida and stranded embroidery threads on these

50p - Four strings of plastic and haematite beads plus 8 small round bangles. The beads will be useful for all sorts of things and the bangles will become outer frames for crocheted Christmas snowflake or flower decorations to hang from trees.

£2 - Three packs of 280gsm card which I can use to make bases for the boxes I make from used greeting cards.

£2.50 - a bag of 18 4oz clear glass jars complete with more than 18 lids and circles of fabric to titivate the tops - these will be used for home made preserves once they have been thoroughly cleaned and sterilised.

I've spent the grand sum of £7.50 on stuff that has made OH happy and will keep me occupied for many happy hours of crafting. It cost me about that much in fuel to get there and back, but at least I got some fresh air and a bit of exercise!

LoL well In times of need we must speculate to accumulate. It has taught me a valuable lesson though and I may just have to visit a few more carboots. The lady had her pitch opposite me and basically she was decluttering and everything was a £1 except for some cameras and an old laptop for a fiver I could have gone daft but I wasn't flush enough. Her words to me were "well it's true one persons rubbish is another's treasure" So true.

Thanks Linda. I Had a great day out It was a new carboot sale that has only been running since April I beleive that there were only 6 stalls In a way it worked out ok for us as the pitch was only a fiver and the people that did come along were actually buying a few things.

You don't have to sell for 50p!! I went to a bootfair sunday and got some wonderful things. My friend bought a beautiful brooch made of pheasant feathers to look like a pheasant (Genius!) For £3, lots of people sell crafty things at boot fairs I have noticed, Its worth taking some bits and bobs you want rid of for cheap too just incase and to cover stall fee

I love bargain hunting a bootfairs, and am always on the lookout for fabric, patterns etc., I got a whole role of paisley cotton fabric once for £5. I have still got loads and loads left. I have made curtains, quilt covers, and so much more.,

I did find a real bargain once. It was a Swedish Linguaphone Language course. I bought it for 50p and sold it for £72. I was totaly amazed.

Drew,

Where abouts is the carboot sale? We've been looking for one for ages.
