What is the "proper" name for sweatshirt fabric?

.....You could be posh and say fleece-backed two way stretch fabric. But I think sweatshirt fabric is probably what most people call it.

I don't think it has a particular name as such.

Hmm....... I would probably call it fleecy but probably sweatshirt material would be what it would be called but don't quote me on that.

Names for swatshirt fabric can be a few different things.

For example if it has a fleece backing then it is called brushed back fleece or brushed back sweat.
If it has a loop back then it is called French Terry or just Loop back.
It is measured in g/m2 - average weight around 250 - 300 g/m2.

Normally fleece back is cotton/poly mix. But the loop back is 100% cotton so is a bit more expensive
