Whenever you read a comment you like then you can click on the little star at the bottom of the post and credit the person with rep points. Obviously other people can also do the same to you. I have clicked on your post your rep power should have increased.

I've used it on a couple of occasions either when I've enjoyed reading someone's thread or if someone has been helpful or answered a question that I or someone else has asked :o)

I barely notice it these days...and often forget to rep posts...you can also negative rep people, but it got very, very contentious, with people getting extremely upset about it...I think Mr M did the right thing in making the rep option much less obtrusive....
