Oops, I seem to be monopolising this board, sorry! This is my latest creation...

The man and dog are a bit crap though. I'm struggling to get an icing that doesn't just melt in my hands. Plus, my husband mixed some colours for me and he totally overhandled it, drying it out. Lucky it was only for his dad!

Great cake.
I used to make novelty cakes for my kids when they were young but after about 10 years got sick of pulling my hair out twice a year and being up all night trying to perfect them!!
Well done on your patience as i know how much is needed!!:)

For a "left it until the last minute" cake that's pretty good - certainly much better than any attempt of mine would have been!
Hopefully if was appreciated by the recipient.

Its a great cake, have you tried adding CMC or Tylose to your sugarpaste, makes it stiffer and easier to model with hth

Hi Jayne. Yeah, I didn't have any in though and it was very last minute! I wouldn't sell one in that state!
Editing to say I've just read my original post and it was cheap supermarket fondant rather than regalice or similar. Think that's more what the problem was.

Thanks Lyndsey, he did, although my nephew had pulled an arm off before we managed to sing happy birthday! My mother in law has kept the pheasant in her glass cabinet, lol
