The die cutting machine is basically a press - you put your die ( this is the metal shape in a rubber base of what you want to cut i.e heart, animal whatever!!) in the machine with the paper/card/fabric you want the shape cutting in.

Some machines take the die through rollers, some are direct pressure - but bascially it cuts the shape - the die-cut.

e.g sizzex, sidekick, wizard, big shot, tag along etc

You need to buy individual dies for each shape you want to cut, eventually you need to replace cutting mats.

The newest die cutters are computerised and its basically like having a printer that cuts the shape out.

e.g Cricut, craft robo,etc

hope that helps

Hi

Does anyone have a Cricut or any of the new cutting machines, I would be interested to know how they measure up to the older style ones before deciding which to purchase.

Thanks!

Sam

Not yet but i'm ordering some at the end of the month and will have to keep one for myself - for research purposes of course.

I do have the craft robo though which is very good but i don't use it to it's full potential so i'm going to put it on ebay.

Will let you know what i think of the cricut when i get it.

I've been keeping my eye out on this and the other thread.

Basically, I have to cut out a lot of felt letters for my products and I'm still uncertain as to whether you can cut out big letters in felt....?

I need them for this :

Do either sizzix or cricut do letters this big and if not, can you have them made?

How big do you need the letters?

The orginal sizzix dies (the thick ones) will certainly cut through felt - I cut jeans out with jeans material....:D

How big do you need the letters?

About 2 inches high by about 1 inch in width. Is that possible?
