View Full Version : Can anyone make retro clothing/lingerie?

Hi guys, am looking for someone who could make me some 40's 50's replica clothing or pj's using vintage fabrics....

I am opening an online boutique and I would very much like to sell items made or refurbed/revamped by people.

I believe in supporting uk crafts men and women and selling unique items not mass produced imports where possible

Not sure what prices you are thinking of as vintage saved fabric is not cheap, hard to get in the quantities needed to make clothes as well. I have used rescued vintage fabrics in some of my designs, normally small scraps of fabric and the price is premium, so for PJ's alone you would be looking at approx £40.00 to £50.00 for the making, that is without the markup for your profit, you may be better sourcing vintage clothing at antique markets, sometimes you can buy a quantity and get cheaper, would then need washing ready to sell.

hiya,

sorry I meant replica fabrics.

got some appointments to view clothes. don't want to buy bulk ...well... havnt found any bulk lots that are what i am looking for. am only looking for a few key pieces, mainly dresses and half aprons. oh and lingerie, but have a supplier for the main pieces of that.x

That's where us repro historical/vintage clothes makers/sellers 'live'.

I make wholesale retro clothing and lingerie but use new fabrics in old prints etc, as it's better that way and can do more of a run, although these are usually small, but you should be aware period detailing and finishing means they aren't as cheap as stock bought in from abroad

Hi I'm starting a new collection using fabric from older products to be sold through another retro company. I'd be happy to do a collection for you too, although it's bags and accessories I'm afraid. I may be able to turn my hand to some simpler lingerie for you. Do get in touch if I can help.
