Hello,
Hope you had a fab Christmas and New Year. I went on a making stuff spree and was finishing my Mum's earings in the car on the way up to the Midlands. Oops!
I'm trying to get serious about my cupcakes but I'm currently limited to the local area as I can't find a courier who will take food. I asked the major companies and they can't and won't even recommend anyone. I've looked on other cupcake seller's websites and can't find details of who they use, just that they use spe******t food suppliers.
Does anyone know of any reliable and good food couriers?
Thanks,
Carys

If you don't get any answers maybe you can place a small order on one of the other cupcake websites and wait to see who delivers it. Sneaky I know but hey it should get you the info you need :)
Maybe talk to a broker like Interparcel, they might be able to help you.
Or as above, buy from one of your competitors!

A lot of the big companies use Royal Mail Parcel Force and just trust to luck they get there in one piece! I know that a few cakey friends in London use Green Planet Logistics with quite a bit of success! But the majority of cupcakes that are sent via courier are flat iced as opposed to the swirly type as they withstand a bit more battering!!
Best thing to do, is to try sending some to yourself and see if you are happy with what you receive! Personally, I have decided to give this a miss as I couldn't be 100% confident that the customer would receive a perfect cupcake!
Good Luck!

Thanks everyone. Its a bit of a quandry as if I send them through the post I really want the customer to be thrilled with them, and not open a box full of squished broken cakes. But already driving around delivering is becoming highly irritating!
Fairy, thanks for info. I'll look them up. Just had a look at your website and its fab. I love all your cakes, but the mini cakes are amazing.

Thank you!!!
Delivering the cupcakes is a pain, and to be honest, I've stopped doing it!! I only deliever wedding cakes now, anything else has to be collected, and most people are ok with that!! The only time I loose out is Valentines day etc where they want something special delievered, but I did it one year, and it was a NIGHTMARE!!! People weren't in (had to leave them with his mum!!), traffic, and generally the stress of making sure the right person got the right order!!!
Good luck with it all, and if I can help with anything (suppliers, forums etc!), give me a shout!!!!

Just a little note if your still after ideas.
"Cakes to your door" use Interlink
and
"Scottish gourmet food" use just normal Parcelforce

Hi,
I used to work for a very well known cupcake company in London, and I must say we did a lot of delivering by hand, that way, like other people have mentioned, you can gurantee the quality of the cake on arrival. However on occasion we did use a taxi service for delivery and we never received any complaints about the cakes! Once the company was more established we had a full time delivery driver.
The only other tip is to make sure you have the cupcakes in a really good cake box so that the cakes are not able to tip over.
Hope this helps

Thanks everyone for your help, particuarly the companies people use. I'm going to do some research and see what I can find. I just took my first wedding order today! So excited. I've offered free delivery as the venue isn't too far from my house.
Love to all
