Hi there,
I started making tiaras and wedding jewellery not long ago after my sister wanted something different for her wedding. Since then I've done a few different designs but only using wire, swarovski crystal and pearls, I've now been asked to make some tiaras for a friend of my sisters but they want diamantes clustered together in a dimond shape as the main focal point. I bought some pre-set diamantes but can't work out the best way to put them together. I've tried wrapping them with wire but they don't sit properly in the formation. Does anyone have any ideas as to the best way to do this or where I can get them already in a formation?
Any ideas or suggestions are very welcome.
Thanks
Nikki

Hi Nikki
Sounds like this customer has seen something like it already but maybe not willing to pay the asking price for it. To be honest I dont really like working with diamantes I think most of them are made from a glass paste unless it is swarovski diamantes that you have.
Why dont you suggest swarovski crystals to this customer, cause then you can create a diamond shape by threading crystals on to wire that can be manipulated into a diamond shape. You can then fill in the diamond shape with more crystals to make it look solid. It will give such a sparkle...much better than diamantes. Hope this helps

Hi, diamantes aren't that easy to work with to get them to form a biggish feature. Think the easiest way is to have a look around for a ready made component such as a brooch in the shape she wants and wire that into a tiara. Maybe try bling asia, they seem to have loads of stuff?

Hi there.

I am making my own tiaras for my wedding. I find the diamantes hard to work with as they are very loose once they are wired together. I have 4 diamantes in a focal point at the front - i created this effect by using a glue gun - very tricky though as its messy.

I am finding it hard to source more diamantes and was wondering where you purchased yours from and do they have an online shop.

Thanks
Maria

Thanks everyone, they are awful to work with to be honest but have managed to wire them individually onto the band in the shape of a diamond. I usually work with crystals and pearls and I think I will stick to that after I have finished this one. Maria, I bought diamantes from ebay, but you can get the ones I went for from loads of places, search for sew on diamantes, they come in the holder with 4 holes on either side where I have wired through. If you can't find them message me and I will send you the link from ebay.

Hi Nikki

I cant find any more on ebay - they all seem to be joined together - more like for dress making or putting on wedding cakes. I found somefrom one girl on e-bay but I purchased all she had - about 200!! The rest of them seem to be flat (stick on). PLease send me a link!! Tried to put a photo on this forum of the tiara I made but for some reason it wont load up.

Thanks
Maria
