Good morning everyone, on this very snowy day! I had a bash at fimo, and well. I aint no sculpter! my 9 year old might be able to do better with her play doh! but it looked such fun and some of the pieces you talented lot make are amazing, It was my husbands dinner dance at the weekend and i felt that if i could make something for myself, (havent done that yet!) It would be really nice to wear, im sorry I cant put actual pictures as facebook is banned at work, but Its on my page if anyone one would like to see?
I used the soft Black and the Marble effect together, to be honest I had NO idea what i was doing, i made a hole, baked and prayed for the best! they came out ok, but I didnt know how to apply the gloss that I had bought, i should maybe have had something to suspend them on?
anyway, it was my first ever go :)

Hats off to all who makes great pieces its alot more difficult that it looked
p.s, i also ordered a black fimo cat from a lovely lady's on Craft Forums Folksy store, it arrived yesterday! I loved it

Welcome to the fun world of polymer clay!

So glad you are having a go - you are right, it can be harder than you imagine at first. But remember so much of the sucess in claywork really just comes down to two things - firstly practise and then just taking time to do each stage to the best of your ability.

As for applying the gloss. I find it easiest to suspend the beads on wooden coctail sticks. You can dip, paint or even apply the gloss with your fingertip. Just remember to remove them from the sticks when they are touch dry. If you leave them overnight to dry on the sticks, you won't find it too easy to get them off again!

Good luck with your claying. Remeber you can find loads of free tutorials online for ideas and there are also some fab books and magazines. I have some clay bead and jewellery tutorials on my website
