...I need a very full net petticoat for this Hanger Dance.

I've bought soft tulle, and crisp net, and polycotton for the main petticoat, where it'll be next to my nylons (don't want to snag them on the crisper net)

I'm planning on sandwiching the crisp net in between the tulle, and then sewing the lot onto a less gathered plain half slip made from the polycotton. The netting will start at the hip, not the tum, as I don't need to emphasize the tum!

Then, to top off the layers of net, which is navy, I'm having another layer of polycotton which is cream (the dress is cream with navy but I don't want the navy net making the skirt part look darker)

If you're still with me so far, and you've made a net petticoat before or seen one, does this sound right to you? I know what I want to do, I know the effect I'm after...just want to know if this sounds about right?

I know it's terribly vague........

I know exactly what you mean! The ones i have seen start at the hip too and have a kind of jersey material over the tummy to the hips - maybe a bit stronger than jersey to hold the tummy in a bit! You could layer up lots of netting to give it volume or you could (and this bit will be a bit vague!) make a shape like when you are making a paper fan but turn the top bit on it's side to sew to the tummy panel. Are you with me? If not I will try and come up with a better explanation!
