advice please about which thread to use

I am just starting to make children's jewellery as a hobby at first but I don't really know what thread to use for bracelets. I guessed an elasticated one would be best but if I wanted to add clasps which one should I choose?

I've looked around the internet but can't find much information about making children's beaded jewellery

any advice for a total noob would be appreciated
