Melting/joining glass

My boss wants to make a solar heater out of glass tubes but he needs to know how to melt/join glass.
Any ideas?

Could do with some more info really...He needs to know what type of glass he has.
Two ways of fusing glass by heat - kiln or torch

Another way is to use UV glue

Depends on how the glass will be used afterwards.
