The lovely Swirlyarts commissioned me to make a keepsake box for her daughters christening, which I finished today! Have sent her photos and she loves it (phew!) and said I can share it with you all .... so here it is ....

Boxes are something I had been meaning to get round to doing for quite some time but just hadn't had the time, when she e-mailed me to ask if I could it was a great opportunity to put everything else to one side for a couple of days and have a go. I loved making it, was a real pleasure, and I owe her a BIG thank you for pushing me into getting round it it!!

Just waiting for the glittery bits to dry and then will post it out to you Swirly!!:mf:

It's lovely. Something that she could keep forever.

About the pics - instead of copying the http code, copy the img code instead that way they will show up on your post without having to click into them.

Wow Sommer, that is lovely - I love the colours and am sure Tara will love it!!! Have just been looking at your website too and you have some lovely things on there. Great stuff for kids especially. Your craft fair stall looks good too - good luck with the up and coming fair/s!

Its really pretty!!! Love the bold pinks.

Did you make the box?

I paint boxes but always buy them in blank, haven't got round to pushing my woodworking skills as far as making boxes - just cut my blank shapes!

Aaaah thank you all :sm: Yes I did make the box, my hubby is a cabinet maker and helped me with the design, but we had to come up with something I could make myself and put together. If he had of done it for me it would have all been dovetail jointed etc etc and price would have gone through the roof. These are made on a tongue and groove basis using a router and then all glued and slotted together!! :)

Aww that is lovely. well done to you!
You know i think these could prove to be really big for you. Maybe expand to other keepsake boxes. Wedding, special anniversary etc.
Look forward to seeing more on your site.
Good luck with it. If we get asked for boxes i know where to send them!!!!

I agree with Michelle about the other boxes, i think they would be really popular you should try other titles such as:
Wedding Keepsakes
My Favourite Memories
My Crafty Bits
Bits & Bobs
All that kind of thing i bet would go down a storm....:)

Thanks guys:D I am actually working on various different designs at the moment, i.e wedding keepsakes etc and will take them to the craft fairs over th next couple of weeks, but will then add them to my website once they are over and done with. I know we were given a 'East of India' wedding keepsake box when we got married and our certificate etc is kept in it, so had always been in my mind to try some myself.
