I've been dyeing to have a go at some oilcloth bags since the material arrived last week, but I had to get my orders done first.

Hot off the sewing machine is my pebble bag :

I've got more oilcloth with photographic images of ice-cream, strawberries and flowers!!!

Guess what I'm going to be doing tonight...?

Mmmm like that JBJB - can't wait to see the icecream oil cloth - what's it like to work with?

Thats great! Love it :) How did you find the Oil Cloth?

Annette - I found it to be quite a challenge when i made an apron as it didn't glide nicely even with a walking foot but when i made something double sided so all the shiny was inside, it worked great!

Hi Annette - it's actually not too bad to work with. Fortunately my overlocker is quite forgiving and chomps it's way through most things! Here is the ice-cream one (just finished!)

....love the strawberry one..I've been working with strawberry print cotton today, vintage stuff. Not making bags though.

Can I mention one teeny thing? Reinforce your straps at the bottom of each one, so your webbing won't come unwoven if heavier things are put in the bags. I forgot to do that with my book bags and the handle webbing just pulled straight through the stitching....

( I'm going to be paranoid about buses on Thursday...)

I really love all of those fabrics, they are so visual and mouth watering (literally),

Lisa - I love my overlocker, it'll do everything I've asked of it so far.:mf:

WOW, they are FAB!! Love 'em, especially the strawberry one. You should get some cherry fabric and do some with them, they will be very popular at the moment!!;)

The pebble one's my favourite but they're all nice - very eyecatching. They don't take you long to do, they'd take me ages and I'd fall out with my sewing machine umpteen times along the way (I hate sewing!).

Thanks for all your lovely comments, I thought they'd be fab when I saw the material!

They don't take me long to do, no, but then I do have a fab overlocker and computerised sewing machine that I love. And they're only straight seams, nothing fiddly like zips (I can't do zips, they scare me!)

Have to say I've got bored of sewing now, so I've been making beaded watches all day to take to Stow - I do get bored quite quickly and I'm lucky that I can chop and change between the two.
