The latest recycling task.......A lady came along to us with two chairs that have sentimental value to the family. Trouble was one chair had a broken back but a good seat frame while the other had breaks in all four seat rails but a pretty good frame. The obvious answer - make one good one from the two. This was the chair with the broken back.

This one with the broken seat frame.

And here's the "one from two" finished

Lots of hard work but worth it I think, it's a pretty chair.

It's lovely =) What's the carving on the back of the chair, it looks like a house or church, really pretty.

Thanks everyone, it's great to be appreciated! Nettie the carving in the back is of a church and a house, a sort of village scene. We think the chairs may have come from France or Germany, they are unusual and about 200 years old at a guess. I'm just rebuilding another chair for the same lady, but it's not as pretty as this one.

The other dining chair set that we've just finished for another lady had medallion cane weaving in the backs, looks like a spiders web and sends you cross eyed when you're weaving them!

Need a bit of a break now, but I'm not going to get one - not allowed!

OOoh I like those! I really enjoy going to auctions and reclamation places and looking at the lovely old pieces, I sometimes come back wth a few dinky things, haven't been to one for a while....there's a weekly one on a Wednesday...ooh very tempting to go again!
(Just noticed you're in Dorset, we lived in West Bay for a few years, hope to go back there in the next couple of years)
