What Can I Sew With.....

....6 metres of 60 inch wide brightest apple green & white gingham you ever saw?

I bought it from eBay a few weeks back. Can't send it back because the seller described it well, just the picture looked different on my monitor.

It's a medium weight cotton, and lovely quality....it's just very, very bright....in large quantities it's dazzling....

Any ideas? So far, I've come up with bunting....

A picnic cloth.
sew on a backing and then applique on some fruits or cup cakes or other food items.
My sister had a fisher price cooker and picnic set when she was little and the picnic cloth was bright lime green gingham.
You could decorate a basket by making a liner from the fabric and then getting one of those inexpensive picnic plastic sets from Asda or other supermarket to put in with the cloth. Stylish eh!

what about pretty gingham aprons for kids. You could applique a green apple on the top half. Maybe its too heavy??

It's too bright for school uniform green, and if I made a picnic rug out of it, you'd be boss-eyed by the time you'd eaten your sarnies! It really is incredibly bright green...

Although, I had thought of a teepee for children to play in...might not look quite so bright outdoors or in a kids' room. The idea came undone when I priced up rigid plastic tubing for the support poles...

I had thought of a shopping basket, as I have aa all-over rose pattern fabric that I could use for the pocket, which might tone it down a little....

What about seat cushion covers (not 3 piece sweets) the kind for the dining room table? Or some bright cloth napkins for the picnic table at the barbie?

Anyway - back to this gingham...... What about using it for lining things like bags and backs of aprons etc. Thing is, I've not seen enough of your stuff to know what you make exactly.

Use it to cover your table at shows - you'd certainly get noticed! Lettering on a banner if it's that bright!!?

I thought about linings for different things, totes etc...where it would be hidden, sort of.

Originally, when I ordered it, it was for aprons and tote bags, but when I saw how bright it was I changed my mind.

I might dye a small piece, see what happens. Or even use dilute bleach....

I'd get one of those little Dylon dyes that youput in your washing machine. I've used them before and they work really well.

Bleach might work to make it softer - then you can do allsorts with it.
