So excited, I'm about to spend 3 whole days at Flux 'n' Flame in Milton Abbass, Dorset learning the basics of silversmithing. No interuptions, cooking, housework, shopping, running around after anyone else, just learning a craft...........Bliss:jump:
Haven't been taught anything since I was at college, all DIY up to now. Wanted to do it for years and kept saying I couldn't afford it, so in the end got the deposit together and booked it, so then I had to save for the balance. It's amazing what you waste without even thinking about it, so every time I went to buy a non essential, magazine £3.50, makeup £10, or whatever I asked myself if I really needed it ? just how many white t-shirts can you wear at once anyway :p and what do you know, most of the time I didn't need it so I put the money in a Kitty Bank. So I got together the balance, money for materials and the B&B, pretty darned pleased with myself.
Know you will all be devestated I will not be posting over the weekend :frusty: HAGO everyone. Mo.XX

I'm back.................................... like you didn't know from the big posting session I have just had to catch up with the news :mf:
I Can't recommend Flux n Flame highly enough, had fabulous three days of learning. Nothing was too much trouble and with very much a "can do" attitude. Stringing and Chain Maille was my limit up to now, never even held a soldering torch. I don't do plain so starting with a simple ring band was not an option :o I was amazed what could be produced, not just by me but everyone on the weekend had good items to take away.
I will bore you later in the week and post what I made as soon as I can get a picture taken. :frusty:Mo.XX

Definately Nettie, just loved it. :jump:In my dreams I would go to college as a mature, correction very mature, student and do a goldsmiths course. Would need a lottery win to do it, maybe I should start buying a ticket  Joking apart they do a weeks summer school as well which would be great, but would be happy with another 3 day one. My hubby's spotted 2 courses at our local college , 1 is for silversmithing and the other is for contemporary jewellery making, I think they were 20 weeks or something, for £70 or so? I'm very tempted too :D

Go for it Nettie, sounds great opportunity. Nothing like that close enough to me unfortunately so trying to go it alone and I'm sure I will get some help on here if I shout when I get stuck. Mo.XX
