I read the please can't do anything as what she did isn't an offence. However I think the RSPCA are doing something though!

They wont say! But the police are 'asking her what made her put the cat in the bin' - SCANDAL! Why isnt it an offence? Surely putting a cat in a bin (purposely), without it doing anything harmful to you, and leaving it there for 15 hours is an offence!

Probably find it was something stupid like the cat dug up her prices Begonia's or something ridiculous like that. Don't know why it isn't an offence just what I read .

What an evil lady, and I use the term 'Lady' very loosely.

I hope the RSPCA prosecute her.

Even better, with such a clear picture of her face all over the TV news, I hope all the cat lovers who know her will now make her life a misery!

That was another thing I read the police in Coventry were urging people not to take matters into their own hands. Well if the police can't do anything about it I think you will find that the cat owner will certainly do something about it.

Quote from Daily Mail online
"A middle-aged bank worker who was caught shoving a cat into a wheelie bin was today named as Mary Bale.
Ms Bale sparked outrage when she was filmed on CCTV grabbing the friendly cat by the neck and dumping it in the bin, where it remained for 15 hours.
She was today under police protection, with PCSOs guarding her front door, as thousands of Facebook users bayed for blood due to the way she had treated four-year-old tabby Lola."

I read in the papers today that she is talking to police about getting protection after the backlash she has recieved from the public. It is such a bizarre and disgusting thing to do. I haven't watched the video just the pictures in the papers as watching it will probably put me in a bad mood for the rest of the day.

I cant think of any reasonable excuse as to why she did that. I dont think its just cat lovers that will be angry any animal lover would be. Like to shove her in a wheelie bin for 15 hours!!! What happens if it was bin collection.

Well, before anyone realises I'm in coventry I' like to say it definitely isn't me. I don't go to the Stoke area of Coventry except to go to my tap classes which don't start until close to the end of September. It's not someone I recognise either. I think she is being hunted down by everyone. It's all over my facebook home page!

Well, if I lived in Coventry and she came into my shop or something, I wouldn't serve her. I'd (sorry, it has to be said) send her to Coventry!!!

Apparently she really loves cats and doesn't know what came over her. She was in a little daydream world worrying about her sick father in hospital apparently (according to her mother).

Oh, well she's changed her tune today, saying that it was a joke!

Have a look; http://uk.news.yahoo.com/21/20100825/tuk-cat-joke-was-meant-to-be-funny-6323e80.html

Er, actually love I think YOU are the joke!;)

I like her thought of "I expected it to wriggle free". Those wheelie bin lids are quite heavy and the bins themselves are deep and with the lid shut dark so I'd expect it to panic. Maybe after all this hooha on the net about it she might think twice about doing these 'jokes' again.

I literaly saw this on facebook about 15 minutes ago and then came on here. I absolutely cannot believe anyone could be so cruel. The poor cat must have been terrified. Evil B****

She very carefully looked up and down the street to see if anyone was watching prior to grabbing the cat by the scruff of the neck and dumping it in the bin and slamming the lid. It was premeditated. Not a nice person and I don't feel even a bit sorry for all the hate mail etc., she is receiving. Perhaps she should be dumped in a skip for a day and see how much of a joke she thinks that is.

Exactly.

Sadly I suspect this woman has been abusing cats for years when she thought she could get away with it.

It really didn't look like a random action to me, she saw the cat - coaxed it up onto the wall, checked around her to see who was looking and then put it in the wheelie bin.

I fear she maybe just like those nutters who go around poisoning cats - I reckon she has done similar before and would do so again. Because she knows damn well that cat couldn't get out and there was no way this was random act of "don't know what came over me..." Utter BS.

She deserves any and all backlash she gets from this. She just got caught showing her TRUE nature, and not a very nice one was it.

I was spitting feathers when I saw the video. The cat is the spitting image of our tabby, if she did that to my cat I wouldn't be responsible for my actions, I hope they throw the book at her.

Agree although the death threats are a little extreme and just cause more work for the poor police.

Our Molly was upset for her fellow tabby and has volunteered to go to Coventry and poop in the lady's letterbox.

While Im saddened that the police force of Coventry are having to take time away from their active duties to provide protection for someone who committed a crime (I would not like to see her burned at a stake by a baying mob) I have no sympathy for this woman. Critchley, you are spot on-her actions were deliberate, and she made sure no-one was watching, What kind of joke do you tell noShe has probably done this many times before, itys bizarre to think it just came over her. I dont think her job, or her fathers illness, or any love for animals or hatred of them had anything to do with it. She got a kick out of making something defenceless even more so. She's the kind of person who probably pulled wings off flies as a child. People like her make me sick. Thankfully she didnt go the whole hog and pull the bin out, ready for collection, so at least Lola was spared that horror. That cat is the spitting image of my Nem, and I couldn't understand how someone could act so cruelly towards a friendly, inquisitive creature. Does she run up to random children in the street and push them into traffic for a laugh?!
Sorry, had to get that rant out. Need to go and cuddle the kitten now...
