I am making a dress to wear to my daughters wedding in lanzarote.
I am having trouble understanding the pattern. its the top of the dress thats the problem. its in two peices before put together.
it has two pleats at the sides of the bottom of the top . they cross over each other.
its the one on the right in the picture with the sash belt.
I am not understanding properly how to put it together at the sides. I can send a scan of the instructions if needed for anyone..
please help..

I think I can help but would like to see the instructions just to make sure. If it is the top right with the wrap over bit, you would need to mark the notches on both pieces or mark with chalk, lay the left side flat and then overlap the right so the markings match up lightly tack together, so would then have 2 pieces of fabric to stitch to the skirt.

Thanks Caroline. i dont seem to be bale to scan the instruction in been trying for ten ins now. summats wrong somewhere lol sods law eh?

it says to attach the sides to the opp sides leaving the linning free.
does this mean that i sew the fabric peices first then the lining after so that they are seperate. if so i dont understand why.
Il try to attach the instructions

Sounds like yes - so the lining will be one smooth piece after the two front sections are sewn together...but I could be wrong...usually am... =)

Looking at the pattern, you need to stitch down the side seams to the circle on the main fabric, including the lining but then start a new seam and stitch individually the rest to the bottom of the lining and the same for the main, by pinning the fabric out of the way, clip at the meeting points and press the seams open. Once both stitched, you can again fold the lining out of the way and baste the main fabric, then turn up and press, basting if you want the lining hem. Hope this makes sense, if you were near me I could show you better.
