Oh I looove it, we have one at home and it reminds me of the old days.
Is it hand wind operated or is there a sneaky modern electric cable hidden somewhere?

It`s all hand driven. No modern mod-cons have been added.

I love the old Singers, the more goldwork the better.
My MinL owns a fabric & sewing machine shop, so we see some of the best come through there. Mostly that people want to trade in for something modern. The shop doesn't take them, but if I'm in there I do try and persuade them to keep them as display pieces.

Yes but when it`s in use, it`s even more special and certainly something to talk about when people come round, they harp on about there electric ones, but i wouldn`t be without this one, i think it`s well cool. And it does as it`s told when you tell it, not like with a leccy one, you put ya foot down abit too hard and it goes mad on ya, then you having to unpick half a mile.

Love the old singer machines. Being in Glasgow I am not far from the Singer Factory who made those lovely machines. We used to have one in school. Never to use just for display (think it was because we were near singer) but it was really really old - not allowed to touch it but we used to couldn't resist standing on the metal foot pedal.
