Hello Folks and Folkettes,
I find myself baking more and more lately and am strongly considering investing in a stand mixer.
I originally lusted after the Kitchenaid but just can't justify spending over £300.00, my other half is a chef and uses one at work and says they are fantastic though. So I have moved my affections in the direction of the Kenwood Kmix (http://www.kenwoodworld.com/uk/Products/kMix-by-Kenwood/kMix-Stand-Mixer/Red-kMix-Stand-Mixer/)
My question is, do you have a stand mixer and if so, which one and how do you find it?
Thanks for your help
Jo

I have a Kenwood Chef that I got just after we married and it's our silver wedding in a couple of months. It has made every birthday cake for my 3 kids, many, many mixes for Sunday Teas and other fundraisers as well as our day to day stuff. I don't use any of the attachments you can buy for it, but if it goes bang I will be looking for another one!

i haven't got one - but the link to the red one you've posted is lush! i'd love a big old mixer like that - it reminds me of going to my nanny's house when i was little.
something else to add to the christmas list (which has got noticeably longer since joining this site!)

Thanks Jaydee, One of the things that sways me towards Kenwood is their reputation for making things that last!
Jules, it is gorgeous isn't it! To be honest my heart is pretty much set on that one now! Some careful hunting round the internet has enabled me to get the price down to £229.00 too so am going to have to be very careful with my money for the rest of this month so I can get one next month!! :)

I too have a Kenwood, about 31 years old now and still going strong, my Mother also had one which was even older, so they do last. The Kitchenaids are good but a tad dearer

My mum still has her Kenwood, and you can pick up old ones off ebay really cheap (£50 with all the attachments).
I really would love one, and would have brought an older one even now, but how much do I want the berry kitchen aid?!!! In a wonderland of wishful thinking that santa might see fit to bring one! So holding out!!!

I agree Sparkly Shoes, the Kitchenaids are yummy! Having read some reviews on it though I am not as convinced as I was (nuts and bolts coming loose, leaking oil... :mummy:) Plus my OH told me the one he uses in his kitchen is different (and costs over £600.00!!!!) I hope the Christmas fairy delivers for you though! :)
It's always a toughie when you are thinking of spending quite a large amount of money on a Kitchen accessory (well it's a large amount to me anyway) and I guess each one has it's pros and cons
My OH has agreed that if I am sure I want the KMIX and am happy spending that amount of money on it then I can get it at the end of the month woo hoo!

I'm another Kenwood chef owner - love it to bit's.
I had it for my 18th birthday nearly 30 years ago from my mom & dad, my mom's mixer is even older and still going.
I also have a Dualit hand mixer for the odd small cake but you just can't beat (no pun intended) the Kenwood as a workhorse.

Thanks everyone for your replies! I bit the bullet and bought the Kenwood K-Mix which arrived yesterday and is now proudly sat on my work top!! It really is stylish and even my OH drooled over it once it was out of the box lol!
Ideal World have it on Flexi-Pay (naughty!) bundled with the hand blender. At first I was unsure if i could justify buying the hand blender at the same time (even though i need one) but I have already used it to make Mayonnaise, Coleslaw and the frothiest hot chocolate ever....yummy!
Can't wait to use the mixer now! :)
Thanks again!
