here's our recycled records wine rack. Don't worry, no good records were harmed in the process.
We've set it as our personal challenge to find a use for all the unloved vinyl currently languishing away in charity shops not doing anyone any good (honestly - Mrs Miggins on the Hammond is never going to make a come-back)- . here's one of the things we've come up with. Hope you like!

Wow that's really smart, I'd definitely have it in my kitchen - very retro (although I hate that word)!!!

And to think I have just taken a load to the charity shop. That is gorgeous. Anyone would give it house room.

actually yes! - I made one for my office out of a red vinyl. Very easy - clock parts from ebay and drill out the centre a little - et voila!

We have been making vinyl record bowls and have a few but have attached them to the wall with piccies in them for photo frames.

But your wine rack looks fantastic- no point in me having a wine rack unless I use it for empties :D

I know what you mean - the idea of three wine bottles remaining in a wine rack for any length of time is bizarre to me! Love the idea of picture frames - any pics?

I will sort some out soon, they have just been melted, screwed into the wall and I have stuck pictures into the middle- fed up with buying expensive boring photo frames...

I would hope that any vinyl records recycled into art are totally unusable (i.e. more than one or two scratches). The thought of playable records being used (and I know it goes on) makes me cringe ;) The record itself is a piece of art and should be left alone (in my opinion).

My husband has a wall of vinyl records and my linen cupboard is full of his wine rather than my linen. I'm thinking I may have just found the solution....

You mean, throw out the linen of course- good idea! who cares for laundry anyway. Records and wine are two of my most favouritest things.

As you can see from Micks post above- some people get a bit queasy over destroying vinyl - there is something a bit sacred about the vinyl, I should know, I am a DJ as well.

However - I am also totally unsentimental about the functionality of the thing. If it don't "work", make something else out of it.

The only "work of art" about it is the label or the sleeve. And I make stuff out of that too. Face it - Mrs Miggins is never going to make a comeback. better the charity shops get some money and I get a hobby than the boxes and boxes of scratched up vinyl gathering dust (and more scratches)

Perhaps my somewhat brutal approach originates in having a mother who was a hoarder?
aint nuthin superfluous in my house. no sir.
