Made my first bag today and I'm very pleased with it. Pity it's for Anya!! It's a book bag for her to take to nursery so that when she brings home her books she has something pretty for them to travel in! I made the brooch/pin as well and it comes off so if she fancies a change then she can just take it off and I can wear it instead! Think I need to make one of those for me too.

I made the brooch first hoping that she wouldn't like it and I could have it but I brought it downstairs and she told me it was wonderful - praise indeed from a 3 year old!! I've sent the link to everyone I know and I'm waiting for the praise to roll in :sm:

I'll bet they'll go down a storm!
Anya will be getting very admiring looks from everyone.

Ooooh - tutorial. Theres an idea for a craft article for Mr Media! The next one I make I will do step by step and put it in the article section. Anya takes her old library book back on Thursday and get her new one on Friday - I will let you know what the other mums and dads think!

I will have to perfect the technique before I make some for Etsy - like not using sticky velcro and then end up sewing it on - sticky, yucky needle!! I also need to make sure that the handle isn't quite as thick - again from a sewing perspective. I'm certainly going to make more of the pins to put on Etsy as they are quick and easy and once I find some more suitable fabric then I will make some more book bags!

I know what you mean about the sticky velcro. I was desperate to finish a costume for my son (always last minute at school) when he was five (oh my, that was ten years ago!!) and that was all I had. Ended up with gunked up sewing machine needle and hand stitch needle.
Never again.
I really like Anya's book bag, I'm sure you will have requests to make more.
