I am considering making simple clothing, booties and aprons for adults and children but don’t know anything about labelling laws in the UK. Does everything need labelling and with what information?
What do I need to know? Can anyone help?
Cheers

Hi Ali
I've been chatting to my local TS and I label all my clothes, aprons, washable soft stuff with the fabric content. And I think its just the top 90% of your content...so 100% Cotton outer & lining, or 100% Cotton outer, 100% Polycotton lining. Exclusive of trimmings. I use the appropriate washing symbols..although tbf I don't know if anyone actually understands what they mean?
I have a keep away from fire in red wording and a standard wash with like colours blurb....
I have a word doc label thingy I can send you? I think have a look at your clothes and labels and thats pretty much it. With the fabrics it has to meet the EN71 stuff (well he kids stuff does) but I think thats mostly about safe dying..not sulper and such..
Helpful or not so much?

Yes very helpful! Thanks!
Do you think I'd need to label cushion covers aswell?
What is this about safe dying? How would I know if the dyes were safe or not? Is it a flammability concern or something else?
I would love the labelling thingy you have please!
I am guessing that to start with I would be best off just working with 100% cotton and/or polycotton and linen brought from reputable bricks and mortor shops as these fabrics are tried and tested and traceable. Would that save me from doing my own tests on them?
Have you ever made kids aprons out of oilcloth type stuff?
Sorry to quiz you so much! :S
