Anyone interested - Business Card Swop?

I saw this on the etsy forum and thought it was a good idea. I wondered if anyone would be interested in getting involved in a business card swop?

The way it would work is that you would send me a number of your cards and once I have them from everyone, I then send then out to everyone else involved. So when that person sells something, they enclose a copy of each business card when they send the items.

I would have to work something out re: postage, as would cost me a fortune to pay to send them all out myself, but wondered if anyone would be up for this? Names to me please, plus ideas of how it should / could work. :)

This is a great idea. I'm just waiting for some new cards but i'm very interested. As well as putting the cards in parcels we could put them in carrier bags when selling things at craft shows?

If we get a number of peole interested we could just post our cards to each other and pay our own postage rather than you having to sort them all yourself?

Etsy is fantastic! It's a bit like ebay but you buy handcrafted things at a fixed price. Don't look though unless you are willing to part with your hard earned money!! There is a link to my shop on Etsy in my signature to give you an idea of what it's all about.
Kate - re the business card swap - how many were you thinking roughly? As I've started adding material to mine I've got to plan ahead and get the bonda web and iron out!

Nope, not too late at all. I still waiting for people to say if they're interested (to give everyone a chance) and then we'll swop details. I will set a deadline of the end of this month and then will get started :)

Maybe instead of going to the cost of actually sending business cards why not maybe make a flyer, or two, with a copy of everyone's business cards on.
Then the list can be e-mailed to anyone interested and updated as need be.
Each person could then print off the flyers as and when necessary.
That should considerably cut down the cost of actually sending cards as the cards would only need to be sent once and then made into a flyer.

That's a good idea! I would be happy with that and I already have a flyer done. I can leave it up to the individual - those who want to email flyers will exchange emails and do so, but those who still want to post business cards we can still set up an address exchange.

So, deadline is 30th April and please state which you would like to do :)

I would prefer to send out flyers. We change them from time to time so that they always have relevant details on them and others can print them off as need be.
We only tend to give business cards out now when we visit shops and galleries or hold exhibtions.
We would be happy if anyone wanted to send us business cards though.
The wider an audience we get the better it would be for all.

No probs Laura, I will let you. If anyone is going to be at Chedder, Grittleton or Stow Craft Fairs, bring along your cards/leaflets and we can swop there. If not, don't worry as I will co-ordinate a swop by post/email. I will get this sorted as soon as I can but at the moment am up to my eyes in work (as in full time) and crafts (2 fairs this weekend - ahhhh!!!!!)

Yes, no problem, just email your details and what you will be sending and I'll add you to the email group! Not adding links to sites but the was a post on the forum somewhere about swopping links.

Right - I've already sent some out but having looked at them they are more focused towards the card making side of the business and I've moved away from that now. So if I have sent cards out to you then please feel free to keep using them but I will be sending out new ones in the next few weeks - once I've ordered them and put the handmade bits on - so don't worry if you haven't got any yet!

I haven't sent mine out yet either it's just that I appear to be having problems with receiving emails and was worried that people had sent them and I had not received them:o

It's surprising how long all this adminy stuff takes. I am trying now to work out how best to keep my records for what I am spending (not that I want to know - it's much better that way - head in the sand etc!!):behindsofa:

I've only had yours Swirly! I emailed my leaflets but I know a few people had problems opening it. Haven't been able to post any out yet as I redid the leaflet and have now ran out of printer ink! I know it sounds lame but its been so busy with orders recently I haven't even had time to buy more ink! Sorry all, will get it sorted as soon as I can :)
