Did you copy instructions or make it up as you went along and how hard was it to create?

They are really pretty. That cane making is quite difficult. I have had a dabble myself haha! Those roses are really beautiful. xxx

Great canes - they're not so easy are they?!

I've just been trawling the web trying to find raw canes to buy as mine just weren't neat enough and took too long to make. Everything seems to be geared towards nail art now and they're very cutesy but I want geometric or random patterns in bright colours to turn into turtles shells. Once upon a time you could buy Fimo canes ready to use.... whatever happened to those?

anyway, found some now but they're American and have a hefty shipping fee attached.
I'd be interested in buying some UK canes in the future if anyone can recommend some? Better still, someone on the forum?!
Here's some of my more lazy attempts!

It's easy to make geometric canes quickly using the makin's clay extruders (http://www.ejrbeads.co.uk/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=93_45&products_id=2181)

Just roll malteser sized balls of different colours and flatten them out a little. Stack them together and then put them into the extruder.

Extrude the stack using one of the square shaped dies.

Cut the resulting extrusion into nine or 16 pieces and stack them together into a square cane. You can then reduce this smaller if you need or use as it is.

These canes are fantastically versatile. You can see an example on the french cover of my book on my Bio (http://www.ejrbeads.co.uk/biography.htm) page. Sorry I don't have any better pictures to hand as I am not at home on my normal computer.
