Hi all,
We found out on the Marie Curie website that they are running a scheme during April where they ask people to make cards to be sold in their shops to raise money for their daffodil campaign. In our local shop, they are giving out little stickers with daffodils on, you go away and make some nice cards, take them back to the shop and they sell them to raise money. Nice idea I thought? We are going to ask everyone at our cardmaking class if they would make a card each this week to take down to the local shop to sell.

Me too. I rather do something like that than just give money.

Do crafts also sponsor it - if you have a stockist near you then you can pick up the envelopes to send the cards off to them. They also don't have to be daffodil themed - they can be any cards that you want to make/can spare so then the Marie Curie charity shops can sell them all year round. If I get some more envelopes I will post the address up here for people to send their cards in.

I agree with the charity thing. It just seems such a pity that the government can't supply them with enough funds so they don't need to rely on charity.
I make candles for Cancer Research and give £1.00 from each sale to them. We had a cancer scare with my son last year and have been told that lumps on his lymph nodes are very low grade lymphoma's nothing to get worried about, just to watch them and report back with any changes. I thought to myself well who knows what could happen in the future and decided to support cancer research. I am also thinking of doing one for Alzheimers because I have heard that it only costs £2.00 a day to treat an Alzheimers patient.
Make lots of cards people.:mf: :mf:

I've got 60 ready to go, although I have been told I can hand them in to my local Marie Curie shop and they will be sold locally, so I might do that instead.
I've got a few more Fathers day cards and some shop samples to make and then I'll take them to the local shop and see what they say.

Does anyone know if theres a closing date to send your cards in or is it an all year round thing?
I am running a 'make a wedding card' competition and the closing date is the middle of May. Once the comp is finshed all the cards are being donated to this cause (if they still want them)
Thanks
