Can somebody tell me what's the significance of the pink and blue envelopes on the left hand side of the forum post headings? Also, why are some envelopes closed and some open? I can't find any common features.
I don't suppose it's important but it frustrates me not to know these things :-)

I stand to be corrected but I think the pink ones are when it's a "hot topic" and it has had lots of views / comments but I could have it completely wrong

That is how I understand it (Mr M posted something a few days ago regarding the differences).
Red boxes are 'hot' topics
Blue boxes are standard threads
When you have read the thread, the envelope in the box shows as closed and the little blue arrow alongside the name of whoever started the thread disappears.
We'll all get used to it eventually! :D
Forgot to mention - threads you have posts in have a green arrow on them!

and if you hover your mouse over the green arrow it tells you how many times you have posted in that thread.
threads that were blue that you have read go grey too.
